Academic Instructor

  • JOB SUMMARY

    We’re looking for an individual who has experience teaching, loves working with children, makes learning fun, has great communication skills, and has the ability to explain concepts in a way a child can understand them; a person who is a team player, reliable, dedicated, responsible and takes great pride in shaping the academic life of the students.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Provide academic assistance to students in grades k5 – 4th
    • Check students’ agenda/homework folder and ensure all homework for the day is complete
    • Review all homework to ensure it is accurate and correct. If any portion is not correct work directly with student and explain why it is not correct
    • Create and provide additional examples in order for student to practice and learn specific concepts (grammar or math)
    • Work closely with students to ensure students learn sight words, spelling words, vocabulary words
    • Work diligently with students through a variety of enriching activities to strengthen them in areas such as reading, writing, spelling and math
    • Help students to complete school projects
    • Plan and facilitate core programming to advance the academic development of each student
    • Work collaboratively with peers, share program-related information and share in collective tasks.
    • Responsible for the safety of all children in the group
    • Communicates directly with program director regarding the students’ accomplishment, academic progress and daily activities
    • Maintain accurate academic record on each student
    • Research new ways to teach and make learning fun
    • Responsible to clean and organized classroom after program ends

    JOB TYPE:

    Part-time. Monday – Thursday from 3:30pm – 6pm (10 hrs/wk)

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task and work independently
    • Excellent Classroom and time management skills
    • Proficient in writing and interpersonal skills
    • 1+ years of experience working with school age children desired
    • have flexibility, excellent work ethic and be dependable
    • High school Diploma
